Welcome

Ever got perplexed by terms and jargons thrown around by those economists appearing on News channels? Well, I often do ! Trade deficit, Current Account deficit, Devaluation, China would determine USD value, Sovereign wealth funds, blah, blah, blah.....All of this sounds so alien, yet sort of interesting. More so because I know so little about such an important area that actually influences my job, my finances and my standard of living.

So, sometime ago, I finally did get drawn in and decided to become more intelligent about Finance and started spending hours and hours reading books/ blogs/ Wikis/ News and started religiously watching informative shows and Youtube videos to educate myself and hopefully demystify the world of money. But even after hours and days of pouring over unending parade of esoteric definitions and explanations, I was still lost in a convoluted web of words. I couldn't really visualize a coherent basic model of how the whole web of international financial world works.

After wasting countless hours on haphazardly reading about discrete and unconnected bits of information, I realized that I was just getting caught in a browsing pattern and I needed a more organized and layered approach to understand the mysteries of Finance. So I decided to gradually build out my own perspective by first understanding one concept at a time, expressing it in my own words and connecting the dots.

I am planning to leverage this blog as a way to gradually build my knowledge about Economics, Finance, International economics, International trade, etc and create a well connected model that I can use in future to put economic and financial events in perspective.

As I move forward in my journey of financial enlightenment, I would create blog entries that represent my understanding of various concepts. I would try to follow a pattern while blogging. Using my blog entries and related external links, wiki pages, Youtube video and other helpful resources, I would try to build a series of mental and physical models of how our economic and financial worlds operate, who are the major actors, what are facts v/s propaganda, how science, innovations, politics and economics are connected,... . I would then try to connect these models into a larger whole. Then I would tie that whole into God and Spirituality (HAHA, JUST KIDDING ;) ).

So, off I go ! On a journey to discover strange world of finance and seek out new insights and boldly go where I haven't gone before.
